Who we are? We are The Shine Centre for Autism. A voluntary organisation based in Cork Ireland, providing programmes and services to children and adolescents with autism.
What are we developing? We are developing a social skills app for children and adolescents with moderate to high functioning ASD and Asperger Syndrome. While the market is currently flooded with thousands of apps designed for children on the spectrum, ours is different. We are seeking to reach children on their level, help them to navigate their social world, and they will achieve this through our alien Kloog and his adventures here on Earth.
What is it called? The app is called Social Skills for Autism
Why we are creating the app? Shine has a long history of innovation and quality provision. Our in house programme PALS (Personal & Life Skills programme) is the basis for this app. This programme has been running for 5 years and is extremely successful and provides the theory and substance for this app. We want to make this programme available to children on the spectrum worldwide, increasing social comprehension and allow children and adolescents with autism to experience the social world with Kloog the alien in a fun and interactive way while learning important social skills.
