Shine’s Free Social Skills App Now Has 35,000 Users

Shine’s Social Skills for Autism App has passed 35,000 users in Nov 2016. The app modelled on the PALS Programme ( Personal & Life Skills Programme) was developed by Shine’s Building Blocks Team headed up by Laura Crowley and designed by Cork based design studio Doodle Creative.

The app is totally free to download and is aimed and children and adolescents with HFA and Asperger Syndrome. The app introduces a central character Kloog the Alien (pictured) who crash lands on Earth and has no idea of our social customs and social rules and must now learn these skills so that he can repair his spaceship and return home. The user goes on a journey with Kloog and must go through a series of 3 missions containing a total of 17 social skills lessons. Progress is monitored throughout the programme with a series of fun quizzes to test concept comprehension and the users can collect a part for Kloog’s ship when the complete each lesson plan. At the end of each mission the user unlocks a “funny” Kloog video where things are inclined to go wrong for poor old Kloog when he’s repairing his spaceship.

You can learn more about the app on Kloog’s website: www.kloogsocialskills.com
