At Cork College of Commerce, we provide two courses for parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). * SNA’s and others wishing to increase their level of ASD awareness may also apply for the programme:
Certificate in Autism studies – Living with Autism ,
This is a parent and family driven course as it has been shaped by the needs of parents of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (A.S.D) and the findings of Shine- the Autism Charity Cork. It is a course for parents of young children with ASD’s and those that have recently learned that their child is on the autistic spectrum.
Understanding ASD & Legislation, Behaviour Management, Play, Occupational Therapy, Education & SENO, Speech & Language, Early Interventions, Montessori Methods.
Course Starts: Mid-Late September
Certificate in Autism studies – Supporting learners with A.S.D in the Primary Cycle.
It is primarily a course for parents of children with A.S.D who wish to upskill, so that they are well positioned to support their child(ren) as they continue on their learning pathway during their primary schooling years.
Behaviour Management, Occupational Therapy, Education & SENO, Speech & Language, Social Skills, Autism Friendly Environments, Transition Issues, Education Psychology.
Course Starts: Mid-Late January 2018
Graduates receive a certificate awarded by Cork Education & Training Board .
It is recommended that participants complete course one before progressing to course two.Applications: online (preferably & may include online discount) or by telephone.
