This was about 8.00 am on the morning of the 18th July 2008. Everybody
returned home safely on the 20th.
To Climb The Highest Mountain
In Africa
Five Cork Climbers took part in
the challenge of climbing Africa's highest mountain to raise
funds for Shine. Denis Leahy, Jim Kieran, Charlie Cullinane,
Joe Hoare & Claire Power will begin their climb on 11th July
2008. Each of these experienced climbers paid all of their
own expenses for the trip and will raised over € 1,500.00
to support the services offered in the Shine Centre in Carrigaline.

The Shine Fundraising
Ball was held in the Maryborough Hotel & Spa on last Friday
the 7th March. The special guest at the Ball was Miriam O’Callaghan
of RTE with over two hundred and seventy guests attending the
event. Amongst the guests attending were Minister Micheal Martin
and his wife Mary, Deputy Lord Mayor Damien Wallace and his wife
Grace, Deirdre Clune TD and her husband Conor, Katleen Lynch
TD, and Ciaran Lynch TD and his wife.
Everyone in
attendance had a relaxing and enjoyable evening with speeches
from Miriam O'Callaghan, Kieran Kennedy and Eamon O'Donovan while
raising much needed funds for the Autism Centre.

Bank of Ireland Staff Raise €6,250.00
for Shine Pre-School
The
staff of Bank of Ireland staged a number of fundraising events
on the 28th of February 2008 to raise funds for the Shine Pre-School
in Carrigaline Co Cork. The organising committee of Rachel O'Flynn,
Lisa Coyne,Julie Tobin and Dian Aherne arranged a number of events
throughout the day to give information on Autism and raise funds
for Shine. The day started with an information session with Laura
Crowley of Shine, a cake sale and culminated in a Table Quiz
in St Columbus Hall in Douglas. Over 130 staff and friends attended
the quiz and a great night was had by all. Many thanks to the
organisers and all the staff of Bank of Ireland who attended
the various events during the day and special thanks to Dian
Aherne for her brillant work in putting the entire day together
and making it such a huge success.

The Johnson and Perrot Group have been a great supporter SHINE/IPAA for the last number of years and the IPAA were the chosen charity for the annual JPMG Group supported Fashion Show in association with Monica John held at the new state of the art JPMG Showroom at Mahon Point in Cork. The night was a great success with over 300 people in attendance. We would like to thank JPMG for their continued support of the IPAA and of the new Autism Centre and to Rose Healy and everyone involved for their courtesy and assistance on the night of the event.

People Attend IPAA Autism Centre Fundraising Night
On
26th October The IPAA/Shine staged a Fundraising Evening
at St Columbus Hall for the new Autism Centre. The night
was an outstanding success with in excess of 800 people attending
the event. A huge thank you to the organising committee of
Dan O'Leary (Chairperson) Aidan Dalton & Eoin Twomey.
Also a huge thank you to John White and the Management Committee
of St Columbus Hall for facilitating the event and to all
our sponsors.

CORK CITY MARATHON:
Shine/IPAA had three runners in this year's Cork City Marathon. All of our runners completed the 26mile run and contributed a fantastic €4,500.00 to our fundraising efforts.
